lol - it is indeed a small world! I didn't even think about the Brizzie office....

Have you been down lately? It's expanding like nuts!!.....

I used to work in a small, specialist high end rendering firm of 3 ppl and the move to 180 was a bit of a shock to the system...

Was down over Christmass didn't pop into the office. Its quite busy up here too. Although its a very different office here. Some fantastic people down there ans well as the work.

Who were you with before?

Fortitude Valley always good for 'conferences'. Had a few big 'conferences' there, i'd be up for it, but we should have a vote. Is it possible to quote this post and ad your vote?

Hey everyone, i hope youve all been well.

Just wondering with ones porfolio, whats a good way to display it when in a job interview or what not. i was just going to go with the classic A4 or A3 folder, but ive heard others bring in laptops with a slide presentation and other more elborate ideas. i like the more conventional method personally just becuase the ppl can gt up close and personal with your work and spend as much or little time as they like looking at it rather then a time limit.

Any thoughts?

yeah the A3/A4 is classic... i guess it depends on the company and employer...

i reckon the laptop thing is a bit over the top.... and waste a lot of time if they are interviewing heaps of ppl.... waiting for the laptop to turn on... run... load... give your little intro... press play... wait in silence and start shitting bricks hoping they will like it.. i guess its ok for an animation/3d game/type place... but they would have seen your demo reel...

i did a series of 'post card' size prints... little... handy... and replace-able/give-able. u can show them the best 5-10 works and if they wanna see more you can give them the rest... have your details on the flip side... so its a mini business card..etc... thats what i did...

but i dont have much experience in job interviews... just did the 1 interview and now working for him...

the interview is about selling yourself... and the work should support you... so first impressions !

just my thoughts on it anyways

Cool, so for content of my renders, should i stick to 100% my own work, or am i allowed to use certian library of gotten from different places as long as i point out that the model of a certian chair isnt mine, but the texturing, etc is???

Doesnt really matter i dont think, I use alot of props that have been purchased.

As long as you could potentially model the things you are using in your images I wouldnt worry. I dont think for arch viz people employers would expect you to be able to model the 600 000 poly Maserati!
