qwarto
how do you move a vertex along a surface if your object is rotated at an angle? Is there a quick way to rotate the grid to follow the objects surface in order to move anything along a given surface? thanks

Is there a quick way to rotate the grid to follow the objects surface in order to move anything along a given surface? thanks 1) Select the vertex 2) change the view from SCREEN or VIEW to LOCAL 3) you will see the orientation change on the UCS 4) go to perspective view 5) select the move tool and push it where you need to go Hope that helps
batteryoperatedlettuce
you can turn on autogrid and create a grid helper object parallel or perpendicular to the surface you want to align with. Then activate the grid in the View>grids menu. Everything you create/translate while the grid is active will be aligned according to the new axis. Some one recently told me to go read up on the grid helper and auto-grid functions. I did, and it was well worth it.
