ssstrutz
Hello all! I am hoping this is an easy one. I know I have read it before but can't find the thread. When using max 8 and vray 1.5, I don't see the vray material on my model prior to rendering. The entire model except for glass is grey. It makes it hard to figure out the scale of the material when you can't see it. Any help for a newbie would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Scott
batteryoperatedlettuce
Hi there, If you are trying to view something like a bitmap or a tile map etc in the view port, click the "Show Map In Viewport" button, located just under the material spheres. It looks like a chequered box - fourth one in from the right. If you are just using a diffuse color with no map - these should be showing up in the viewport already. If you are having trouble with transparency check your settings in Customize>Viewport Configuration>Transparency.
ssstrutz
Thanks, I tried the view map in viewport button and it did work. However it only works on a few of the materials. The others have the button greyed out. Any ideas how to make the rest appear in the viewport? Scott
redzuan3828
Did you use both standard & vray material in one time ?
ssstrutz
Actually I just figured it out. I didnt go far enough with the earlier post. You have to select the diffuse map in order to get the material button to work. Once I clicked on the button under the diffuse map it appeared in the viewport. Thank you all for the help!
