cakewalkr7
I would like to work more on interior renderings by trying to reproduce photos of interiors. I've looked around online but haven't found much as far as galleries of interior images. I found getdecorating.com but it's a subscription based site and I was hoping to find some free ones. Does anyone know of some free sites that have a lot of interior images? Thanks.
IC
One of the best resources for this kind of image is architecture or interior magazines which can be quite pricey or designer shop brochures which are usually free or really cheap. I also regularly browse my local library's architecture section. Remember libraries?
BrianKitts
.....Remember libraries? of course ".dll" right???? I've hit the architecture section of the bookstore (barnes and knobles....etc) a couple of times before when I'm working on a project for some ideas. Sometimes I just make mental notes of things to do to a render, and a couple of times I've found architectural books that I wouldn't mind owning. Keylitho
I would have to agree Go get some magazines I get them all the time and find hundreds of scenes that I would love to make. . . . . Just don't ever get arround to it. ~Erik
Quique
I picked up a Pottery Barn catalog (it's my girlfriend's, I swear!) and flipped through it and found an interior that I wanted to model. I like catalogs like these because they are simple, since they're only trying to show a few products at a time. This means a less complicated scene for me to try and replicate. In this manner, I can focus more on lighting and less on massive amounts of geometry. I've attached an image from when I first started out in mental ray using a page found in the catalog. I'm sure similar catalogs like IKEA would work just as fine, especially if you want to concentrate on a particular room; bathroom, kitchen, den. One more thing of use from these catalogs is that they'll provide dimensions of products they're advertising. Hope this helps, Enrique
cakewalkr7
Thanks for the ideas. I took a stroll over to the library and found one of the home design mags. The catalogs sound like a great idea!
ericbarlow21
In the city where I live (Phoenix) there are free publications such as Contact magazine so I try to pick those up as often as they put them out. I also go to used book stores which sell old magazines and I can get back issues of expnsive architectural magazines for .25 to $
Mercy McCall
I also use interior design magazine for getting the ideas, one can always look into old magazines and at the current time the best option will be to use WWW for looking into some very good work from the experts the sites like http://www.cgarchitect.com http://www.vizmasters.com http://www.click4architectCG.com etc. plays important role in that or simply use google image search and you may get some very good images.
