SandmanNinja
Max 9 V-Ray 1.50 RC3 Hello everyone, I'm trying to be smart. So I don't have to make and re-make furniture for each of my scenes, I'm modeling individual pieces of furniture in their own little file of Max. That way, I can do what I want, get them looking beautiful, and then just xref them in. The only trouble is, max keeps crashing. Hard. But it's only crashing when I try to apply my v-ray texture. Obviously it's either my model or the texture that I'm trying to apply. Is there a faq or a list of tips that I can check? I was up til 1am bashing my brains out trying this, and I got up at 8am only to be faced with the same thing. I am on a mini-holiday (5 days off) and this is day #2. I was really hoping to get some interior modeling practise in these days off. Thanks in advance...
ericbarlow21
I usually search Google or the chaos forums and see what I can find using keywords etc and see if I can make any progress that way...
carlangas
hi Joel, try changing your max driver from direct x to open gl and see if that helps...
kippu
does your vray texture have " show map in viewport " on?
Sketchrender
I had an older machine Hpxw4100 , witha quadro 980 graphics card. The new direct x, even with the new drivers kept crashing it. blue screen sometimes, just shut it's self down. so i switched back to open gl, and put back on the older drivers no problem since. SandmanNinja
Hi Everyone, Thanks for the replies. After spending too much time mucking with it, I just bit the bullet and started over. It's a learning process, right? I don't know what I did different - I did the same steps as the othertime - but this one is much better behaving. Just in case, I changed my video drivers from Direct3D down to OpenGL and I don't think it's crashed once. It's a shame that my computer is only 3 months old and already she's 'aging'... Thanks again everyone - I really appreciate your help.
