visualmusic.4
I'm having a very strange situation with a max file that I've been given from another client. I've added lighting (it's an exterior shot) but cannot get ANY shadows casted whatsoever. I've tried every lighting solution I can think of and still no luck. From standard lights, to photometric and radiosity solutions still no luck. Cast shadows is checked. I even applied a general white phong material to everything in the scene and still no dice - so it can't be the materials. What can I be missing? Any help would be appreciated. I'm totally perplexed... Thanks everyone!
jason_s
check the scale of your model.......if it is very small it happens to not cast shadows.
visualmusic.4
Thanks Jason. The land mass is about 2,800'x4,000' so it's pretty big. Man this is crazy. All I want is a light to cast simple shadows! Weird.
jason_s
try scaling up the model a lot and see if you get shadows......that was once the answer to a similar problem i had........i had prepared the model in cad brought it over, lighted it and no shadows...and it was the scale of the thing. ajvbochove
I think you already checked, but maybe: Render Scene (F10) Shadows & Displacement Enable must be checked. or Maybe your geometrie properties are changed to not to cast shadows
visualmusic.4
Yes! That's it. This wasn't checked. Looks like the client had changed a bunch of settings in the render scene window. I went down to the bottom and changed back to the default presets and started fresh. Now it's all going smoothly. Thanks for your help!
