Lebjos
Hi again, Im making a model of some of my details, and am trying to get a sandblasted glass effect on my glass. The material i used is frosted, but I am going for a more milky white/irradescent white. Would the best way to achieve this be not making a glass and instead using a white color that is somewhat translucent and has a noise filter on it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Josh I just realised that I also have a problem with that wire mesh.... the black inbetween the wire is supposed to be clear... but I cant seem to get the black to go away =(
Lebjos
here is an updated picture of how the glass is turning out.... Im wondering if maybe I should change the plane or lighting scheme to make the glass better?
Tim Saunders
Here's how I approach sandblasted glass. You have to take into consiteration a few things. 1- What side of the glass is sandblasted. The reason this is important, is because of the reflection. I am posting 2 examples: a-sandblasted on back side, b- sandblasted on front side. Notice the difference in reflections. What I did is create a super basic vray material. For material-a, I just picked a diffuse color, and gave the reflection a value of like 23, 23, 23, and refraction about 126, 126, 126. In the refraction, I also gave it a glossiness value of 0.8, and checked affect shadows. For material-b, I copied the same material and changed only the reflection. I just gave the reflection a glossiness value of 0.8. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
