leon
Hi all, Here's an interior of a house, modelled with Blender, rendered with Yafray. I'm pretty much a beginner to all this, so I thought I'd post more so that those who can't afford the big name software can see what can be done fairly easily now with free opensource software (if they're not already aware of it) First of all, a quicktime vr panorama: Quicktime VR interior Secondly a couple of pics for those who don't have quicktime: Still a lot of work to do though! Ras
Hi Leon Very exiting! Can you post some rendering times and other info about the renderings, please? Maybe a tut or links to one! I just had a look at the Yafray renderer site - it looks good but I get the impression that the renderer is a command line renderer - is that right? Seems difficult for someone like me used to dialog boxes...
leon
Hi there, Rendering times are approx 2 hours a frame on my 700mhz 256mb laptop. It's a bit slow due mainly to my overuse of bump maps I think! The lighting was set up with two spots to simulate the sunlight, then arealights outside each window for the diffuse light. I used the new global photonlight feature. Yafray is a command line renderer, but there are two good scripts for Blender (Yablex and Exporter) with dialogs etc, so you don't need to go anywhere near the command prompt if you don't want to. There are some good tutorials if you search the forums at www.elysiun.com (for Blender), and www.yafray.org (for Yafray). The Yafray tutorials may be a little out of date, and I suspect they won't be updated - especially since Yafray support is currently being coded directly into Blender (hopefully a Christmas release!).
