Adding RPF Motion Blur in Combustion

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a 3600 frame animation rendered in VRay to PNG image sequence which I would like to add motion blur to using Combustion. I have also rendered out a velocity pass to RPF file sequence but I'm not sure how to combine these layers in order to apply an RPF Motion Blur operator. I haven't used Combustion for anything like this before, just colour correction etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction i.e. how to import footage, just layers or should I be using g-buffer builder? Which layer should I apply the operator to etc?

Thanks

3ds max 9 / VRay 1.5 / Combustion 4

ok, i guess no-one has much experience of this. I've figured out a few things so far.. I can render out a z-depth pass as an image sequence and bring this in using the g-buffer builder to do depth of field, fog effects etc. However, I've tried rendering velocity pass both as PNG and RPF files and neither work.

I'm fairly sure now that the only way to do the RPF motion blur is if I had rendered the whole animation to RPF file in the first place including including the g-buffer elements at the same time.

Oh well.. no luck unless someone can tell me any different. :(

Has anyone used this before? How does it compare to using motion blur in max, obviously faster but quality wise?
