ki_cz
I'm having a lot of trouble making a wet rock ... it just ends up looking like a plastic rock, or a rock covered in "gel" rather than water ... here are some of my tests with a tonne of different settings/bumps. Can anybody maybe give me some pointers?
ki_cz
Also, please let me know which one of the above you think looks most realistic!
chiquito
try puting a map on the reflection on the Vray material, the "wet" should reflect much nicer than what you have know, I believe there is a dvd fron gnomon, an outside scene on a higway, or something like that. Also try adding a wet map to the stone, there is a cd fron total textures, aged materials, that has some good mapas to do wet marks.ç Good luck. classix
There is a tutorial on Neil Blevins page: http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_education/wet_materials/wet_materials.htm It´s not maxwell specific but maybe helpful nevertheless. Devin Johnston
I'm confused are you using Maxwell or Vray?
SandmanNinja
The Exterior Lighting tutorial from Gnomon covers this. They put a slick, wet sheen on the road texture. I think we just used a gray-scale map in the white channel of the falloff map for the spec channel.
gfa2
The nine examples in the first image look more like a polished stone rather than a wet one. Just guessing here, but maybe the reflection should be sharper....less blurry.
ki_cz
For the first 9 I actually took what I considered to be the best 2 out of the bottom group and fooled with some settings. I will try making the reflections sharper to see if it gives me a better result.
BrianKitts
really good comment was made the other day that would apply to wet stone as well..... ....Chrome is only as good as what you are reflecting. ~Erik out of context I don't think you can judge a wet material, it all comes down to the reflection and you can't judge that in a white box. (regardless of rendering engine)
ki_cz
It's Maxwell, and I'm using an hdri map to generate reflections.
dave davidson
top ones are nice i agree with the comments that its the reflections , environment you also try using some alpha maps for different layers and add some coatings to them so some areas are coated and some aint.
