Crazy Homeless Guy
Does anyone know anything about Jamaican Blue Mountain coffe beans? I read they can sell for $35 a pound, but are difficult to find. slightly out of my price range for beans. i listen to a podcast called coffeegeek. they have a forum on their site. i am willing to bet that someone there could direct you to a place that they had a good ordering experience with. http://www.coffeegeek.com/forums/search?RET=%2Fforums&DO=&Form_Search=Jamaican+Blue+Mountain&Form_Author=&Form_Forum=&Form_AsPosts=1&Form_Before=1&Form_Days=&Form_SortField=SearchRank&Form_Descending=1&Form_Submit=Search+Discussions

I read a fantastic book ("are you really going to eat that?") that explained about the jamaican coffee commission laws. Very interesting reading. This guy owns a plantation in Jamaica that makes the best coffee in the world who's in disagreement with the Jamaican coffee commission (he doesnt like his beans being blended with all the others and getting the same price for his harvest). So he's been sitting on his harvest for the last 8 years 'aging' his beans instead of selling them until he can get the laws changed. You can only buy this stuff from his house. I want to find out when the laws change and where I can buy his stuff when they do! Anyway, its the blending process which is very ad-hoc in this area of Jamaica (Blue Mountains blend) so you either get the best in the world, or something run of the mill. Looks like I may have to go to Jamaica......
