Core-duo advice please

I am looking to buy a new system tomorrow, my conflict is on chosing the processor, i would like to buy a core duo

I've seen the list>

 

E6850 - 3.00 Ghz , E6800 - 2.93 Ghz, 2.67 GHz , 2.67 GHz, 2.33 GHz, 2.40 GHz, 2.13 GHz, 2.13 GHz, 1.86 GHz, 1.86 GHz, 2.0 GHz, 1.80

 

and my question would be which is the best bang for the buck?

 

meaning that when you look at technical benchmark tests there are mili -seconds of difference on software i don't understand, and i don't understand how those differences really reflect "day to day" rendering tasks

 

there is though, quite some difference in price, and the always recommended "buy the fastest"

 

i would like to ask for opinions on basically RELIABILITY in terms of hardware-software bugs

and if there is one processor that is really good and fast and at a price that would not justify spending on the real expensive ones because there might not be THAAAT much diference in the "day to day", and save that $$$ for other components

The speed in GHz is directly proportional to the render speed, when comparing Core2 Duos. Reliability is the same for all of these. So you'll need to do your own cost/benefit analysis to decide what to get.
