batteryoperatedlettuce
Heh, this sharecg thing is really getting the ball rolling Thanks mate. Some of those brick textures are quite nice. I like the arty fence textures too. And since were earning you cash by clicking on them, do you think you could include bump/displace maps with them too
vkirchner
LOL, yes we are all getting rich with the sharecg web site, if you believe that then I have a few pieces of property I would like to sell you. :-) I have been working with the Crazybump demo to make a few normal maps, they look very nice and I have included them on many of the textures I supplied. But I did not receive any response from anybody on the displacement maps being a good thing or a bad thing, so I stopped the extra work on my part. The same way that I would try to include several textures in a group when I uploaded them, most other people upload the texture, the bump or opacity map is a another download. So it comes down to the amount of work required for the time I have available, but I am willing to try and give people what they want. Your vote is duly noted, but we need a few more to chime in also. Regards Vince
rpompeu
Hi Vince, As I said before, nice initiative. I decided to share some textures too, starting with the little glass tile collection I made. Here it goes: Green Glass Tile http://www.sharecg.com/v/5003/3d-and-2d-art/Glass-Tile---Green Blue Glass Tile 1 http://www.sharecg.com/v/5004/3d-and-2d-art/Blue-glass-tile-1 Blue Glass Tile 2 - Dark Blue http://www.sharecg.com/v/5006/3d-and-2d-art/Blue-glass-tile-2,-Dark-Blue Blue Glass Tile 3 - Light Blue http://www.sharecg.com/v/5007/3d-and-2d-art/Blue-glass-tile-3---Light-Blue Orange Glass Tile http://www.sharecg.com/v/5009/3d-and-2d-art/Orange-glass-tile Yellow Glass Tile http://www.sharecg.com/v/5010/3d-and-2d-art/Yellow-glass-tile Glass tile bump http://www.sharecg.com/v/5011/3d-and-2d-art/Glass-Tile-bump I used this green tile and the bump in this image shown If you people like it, I can share some woods that I made in Photoshop. I have been thinking about collecting some of the high poly props I modeled for my scenes and seeing if anyone would be interested in them. When I have a few more high quality ones together I will give it a go

vkirchner
No one seems interested in the Taco Bell, so I will just keep posting textures. Nic H
How do you make your normal maps? I thought normal maps had to be derived from hi res geometry then mapped back onto low res geometry? Did you model those objects to get the normal maps?
vkirchner
Thanks for the comments on Taco Bell. :-)) I have used two programs in the past to make the normal maps, the first is the Nvidia plugin for Photoshop which I have since stopped using. The second is the Crazybump beta program which I will purchase as soon as it becomes commercially available. This program is very friendly, works quickly, and let you see a preview of the finished product. Another program that I loaded was XNormal which I tried to use a couple of times. My computer did not like it, and I found it more difficult to use than the Crazybump program. So I would rather pay for the Crazybump than fight the Nvidia or the Xnormal program. As for high resolution to low, you can create a normal map using any image, but from what I know the high to low is entirely acceptable practice for a gaming workflow. So far I have not been able to make that leap, because I come from a Mechanical Engineering background I make everything exactly to the dimensions, low poly is not yet firmly rooted in my memory. The textures are from a local building that has the entire front facade in brick and ornate trim, just a beautiful building to look at everytime I drive by. It is located 2 blocks from my house, so I see it quite a lot. Regards Vince

vkirchner
Enclosed are some very nice carved stone textures, the small images do not do them justice. Please give consideration to the textures as I believe them to be quite good, I left them almost full size so you could chop them up to make smaller textures if you like.
