laiskas.mariui
does anyone know if there is a way to gather indirect illumination for the whole scene and then render from different views without computing the GI?

SandmanNinja
photon mapping is view independent. Hey Chris, I think you cover this with the spherical camera that was moved to 5 different places in the interior scene in your Gnomon tutorial. That was kinda cool! I've watched the interior and the exterior videos twice so far and have learned heaps! Thanks for producing them! When I ordered them, I followed its delivery progress via the tracking website and when I saw it had been delivered to my local post office, I took the next day off from work just so I could collect the tutorials the next morning!! I watched them straight away that day. Now I'm going through and working through them. Good stuff!
Christopher Nichols
Hey Chris, I think you cover this with the spherical camera that was moved to 5 different places in the interior scene in your Gnomon tutorial. That was kinda cool! Thanks... but actually that is not exactly true. The process I did was still view dependent, since it was done with an IRmap and Lightcache, which both depended on my spherical cameras. Photon mapping make not difference what camera you use. It shoots rays from the light sources, as opposed to the camera (which si the view that it depends on).
