d7man2000
I have a new strange problem I render with distributer rendering. with Max7 it is no problem, the slave computer have 2 processors so when I render I see 2 windows during rendering for each computer now same thing with Max9 I can see only 1 window running for each computer, it is like it is detecting only 1 processor instead of 2 processors like it was in Max7 I don't know what's going on anymore, can anyone tell what to do? thanks. kris. Vince Paske
What rendering engine are you using? I know with Vray, going from a dual 2 core system, to a dual quad I had to run this script (f11): renderers.current.system_numThreads=8 -the 8 represents the number of cpu's, replace accordingly. d7man2000
I didn't have any change in Max7 it worked like expected with Vray 1.47 in Max9 with Vray 1.5, it is different before I had 4 two-processor computers and I could see all processors on the screen during rendering, now I see only 1 processor per computer I didn't know you have to use the script I never used a script like that what I am suppose to type? thanks. Tim Nelson
Yeah its sort of a bug with the new 1.5 RC3. You have to open the max script listener and enter this. renderers.current.system_numThreads=4 That should solve the problem with buckets.
d7man2000
hi, thanks, I have a warning: Performance loss: number of threads (4) is greater than number of light cache passes (2): some threads will be idle how do I fix this? is this light cache issue? Tim Nelson
How many processors or cores do you have? Light cache passes should be set at however many processors you have (virtual or physical). Since light cache is not used by DR anyways, it shouldn't be a big deal. But you can check and see if your local cpu's are running at 100% when doing the light cache by just opening the task manager. d7man2000
I don't have 1 computer with multiple processors I have 4 separated computers that I use for DR as host computers I think it is different. I test how QMC works computer crashes most of the time
