hello

Its MONTHS im trying to find a product for create VR walkthroughs of my designs.

recently i try VR4MAX exporter ans results are good.

this weekend i see Quest3d demos and the results are IMPRESSIVE.

i try to import my max models to quest3d but it is a ver complicated soft (at least for me), and try to learn from manual, but is too large and i think must be a short tutorial of how to import and publish for architectural visualization. i some of the members here use Quest3d (quizzy 3didee.com) so, i ask please some words to help me :)

thanks a lot ! u rule

i dont know much about quest 3d but we ha ve just made our real time engine availabel commercially. it is aimed primarily at architects and visualisers and has been developed by architects( thats me and 5 more people). try the demos that are on the download section and if you like it send us a mail to help you further

the site is at www.cadai.com and the engine is called cadai

the demos are optimized for an nvidia graphics card so bear that in mind.

the navigation is very simple. exactly like quake or unreal. arrows and the mouse

let me know what you think

Its very simple to do a walkthrough in quest.

1 model and texture in max.

2 import into quest via X importer (file import

3 go to channels section and drag walkthrough template from the channels on left (Its under either examples or quickstart)

4 connect the drictx render channel to the the direct x object channel (youre model)

5 right click on the start channel at the top of the channel graph and go to make start channel.

Viola you have walkthrough

You may have to ajust youre model in the annimation section like scale it down cause its too big or move it around. And to ajust the objects textures and such go to the object section to ajust the materials and textures.

I am a 3d novice and I have learned and done some cool stuff with quest3d.

It is not in the same market as cadai. Cadai seems to be for Just realtime archi visiualizations (corect me if im wrong)

Quest is that and more. Its a complete multimedia authoring system. You can not only make stunning standalone walkthroughs, but also awesome games, presentations, or anything you can imagine.

Quest is in no means hard to use. It is very, very deep but not hard to use.

If you go through the tutorials the quest way will just click.....Just do the tutorials.

I am by no means a quest expert but I can help on many things, and the quest forum is extremely friendly, generous, and full of professionals.

Good Luck.

yes yes... quizzy is here..... :D

Well its basically how jonathan explained, but what you could also do is to open an existing quest3d project, with a walk through camera, and replace the object geometry with your imported X format objects.. Well, its a little difficult to explain here, but if you have msn, just e-mail that and we'll have some real time contact..

Good that you got it to work. You need to reinsert youre lights in Quest3d. But also remember that these lights are dynamic and take its toll on youre system (were working in realtime now!)You should then apply texture lighting or texture baking either with Quests lightmapping feature or through another software such as lighscape or 3ds maxs texture baking function. For static lights for youre walkthrough this is the ideal solution. Good Luck!
