The_architect06
hello everyone.. am having a problem with an interior scene & am really very frustrated at the moment.. the problem is that am rendering an interior (about 600.000 poly),my light cache calculation is taking too long ( Estimation 400-600 hours )..i rendered the scene this morning & it took about 40 min to render..now i can't even make a test render on 320x240 - my light cache subdives are 1000,sample size = .02 - am not using any displacement maps - i checked my system units & everything is fine - am rendering on a 3.4 dual core with 2 gig ram hope someone can help me out in this problem
manta
Hmm...Try starting a new scene and merging everything from that scene into it, and try to render at default settings to see what happens, perhaps you set something way too high by accident... The_architect06
thanks manta.. i tried that option before i tried merging the scene ,i also tried by removing lights.. well it seems that it takes ages at quasi-monte carlo or even without GI.. could this be something in the geometry !! manta
are you using opacity maps ?
The_architect06
opacity maps are not used in the scene but i figured it out..all went fine when i deleted vray fur ( which i use for greenary).. thanks for the help william
pabulo
divide or teselate the surface... simple as that.. incredible isnt it.. just give it more edges so the polygons get smaller and it will calculate properly just found it out have fun i konw that the hread is ages old just giving the solution in case anyboby is looking like I was an hour ago
jackb602
Thanks for the tip Pabulo! It came at just the right time. I was just working with Vray fur for the first time, and I was about to give up when I saw your post. Render times are now super fast. Something not necessarily on the "common knowledge". Just tried this for the same problem. Voilá! LC calc back to normal. Thanks a lot pabulo you saved my butt
