cakewalkr7
I'd appreciate any C&C on this image. I am trying to figure out how to do some interior scenes so I started by trying to copy the attached photo. I obviously didn't put everything in the image, but enough to get the basic feel. I ran into some problems though and hoped some of you might be able to give me some ideas. 1. I can't seem to get a smooth brushed steel finish for the dishwasher and stove. Although my material in the editor preview slot looks a lot more brushed, when it's rendered it seems very noisy. 2. I am trying to use GI for as much interior lighting as I can but without any lights inside, it's just too dark. I added two omnis in the room that aren't very bright. Because of these lights, I'm getting shadows under the cabinets but the photo doesn't have those shadows. However, if I turn off shadows, my sun light doesn't hit the bowl on the table enough to cast a shadow underneath and it looks very odd. So, I'm not sure what I can change in the lighting to make it look more like the photo. 3. In the photo I'm not sure if the highlights on the counter top are specular or reflections. I've tried using both specular highlights and reflections to duplicate that but neither are working too well. I'm assuming that the dispersion setting in reflection makes the reflections more blurry? I played with that a bit but man did it slow down my render. If I didn't have that option turned on, it had too much of a mirror like finish. The specular highlights didn't really seem to do anything close to the photo. So, if anyone has any ideas on what I could change, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! leed
Looking at the picture there is no direct sun light coming in the room. You need to look at the reflective materials. Take the bump or diffusion off them... just look at the colour... Dark grey-black. and add reflection. To get the results you want you can Either add Dispersion in the reflection channel or do it in post. rendering everything to a Blend channel except the reflections and do a bit of Photo Shop. My advice is learn what you can do in the render first. It will hit on the render times though.. \What are your times, and GI settings. The black work top is picking up reflection from the white wall. Be careful with the in-fills as they are creating confusing shadows. Make sure your furniture is on the floor. And try a bit of AO in the diffuse channel. Lee
