Ernest Burden III
Well Ernest has been allowed back in so I'd say the fun is just about to begin No fun from me, I'm afraid. There's nothing to say there, just wait and see what they come up with and when. In the meantime, I just got my next beta of Fry and it has instancing and displacement among other things, and the Z-clip has been there for a while, etc., so I can wait on Maxwell v1.
renato
NL must know, if they don't deliver a kick**s release,(at least in speed) it must be the end of maxwell with fryrender in the scene, already offering the most requested features by maxwell users. My question is: why is taking so long in coding something like displacement, when fryrender developers did it in a very short time?

I don't know, this has been said many times before but it doesn’t seem to affect NL and people keep buying the software. I suppose they figure as long as more people are buying it there doing ok. My question is: why is taking so long in coding something like displacement, when fryrender developers did it in a very short time? If you knew the answer to that then you would be able to explain NL in a nut shell. Everything they do is slow and according to some people who know something about programming these things shouldn’t take this long to do. I think they changed the name of this release to 1.5 because they realized they were going to have to do more to it in order to compete with Fry. If they don't come out with displacement or instancing along with other needed features the forum is going to explode on them.
trino
I thought that FryRender was free, wasn´t it ? the beta is 395,00€. and the final version will be 795,00€. The gallery is quit impressive but i did not see any displacement scenes but i think it must be a very serious contender for Maxwell:p

If you offer the two options (maxwell or fry) to a new customer, based on stability, easy of use, features, etc. I have no doubt that he/she would pick Fryrender. I'd like to know how many licenses NL are selling these days. If I'd knew all the problems with maxwell, I would've never bought it. But, let's wait until having the 1.5 release in our hands, maybe NL has a nice surprise under their sleeves.

I think all but a few hardcore fanboys would agree with this, I know I wouldn’t have purchased it if I knew that 2+ years later I'd still be waiting for a fully functional product. NL does have a chance to redeem it's self with the 1.5 release, but they are going to need to get almost everything right no more of these half functioning features that never get fixed. aldo lanzi
"simulens" that sound pretty fun , what is the key of all this thing? nl its making a lot of useless features , and they forgot the most important "time"
ClaudeFerret
Maybe there is a chance for Simuscatter™ , or at least a unnamed SSS that actually works. Mid-May? Who believed that for a second.
Gattomanzo
they should register Maxwell as: Simulworking "...incredible efforts to keep it partially-working..." CGDummy. "...2 years and still incomplete." 3Didiot. "...NL fired some of its programmer because they fixed some bugs" Crappy Graph User
Ernest Burden III
Maybe Victor is playing NextLimit like a level of "The Sims™" and doesn't realize its a real company with real customers.
