Crazy Homeless Guy
what about the plugin.ini file? ...does it have the following line, or something similar? VRray=E:\applications\3dsMax9\plugins\vrayplugins
TheAllusionisst
Mine actually dissappeared as well and I was thinking it might have been from updates or productivity packs. Anyway, I re-installed Vray and then I couldn't get it to work, kept getting something like Error Code 126: could not initialize module....... Hours later I figure out that Vray placed something like this line: VRray=C:\applications\3dsMax9\plugins\vrayplugins In front of the Max path to the default plugins in the "plugin.ini" file. The Vray path needs to be after the Max path to plugins. Just thought I would mention it, might stop you from wasting hours of your time
leonmagnavox
mr allusionist, could you please explain more simple how did you solve this problem please? thank you in advance leon
TheAllusionisst
First off it has been a while, so I am not certain on all the symptoms, etc. but at times when you install or re-install Vray, your plugin.ini file has the vray specific lines of code before the general Max lines of code and you get the types of errors expressed. You need to cut and paste the Vray line/paths after the max ones, something like this, but I haven't opened the file and don't know what the exact lines say at the top of my head: C:\Autodesk\3ds Max 9\plugins C:\Autodesk\3ds Max 9\plugins\vrayplugins If the Vray lines are in front of the Max ones, it seems to cause problems. That is as clear as I can make it. Cheers!
leonmagnavox
I ve fixed my problem. i think my OS was installed in the wrong drive (D:\ instead of C:\) so i reformated it however there is another problem now i have 8 gigs too with (xp64/max64/vray64) the problem i have is; i try to test render evermotion interior scene and the Ram wont go more than 4 gigs all the time. I switch boot.ini with \8GB ; it said available in task manager but max64 just wont take it. It cant be because of the process doesnt require ammount of 8 gig of ram; because I tried to render in 20.000 x 10.000 resolution and still just take less than 4GB Is it possible that RAM speed or Graphic Card affecting this? all I can see is that 8 processor always runs in 100% mode (task manager) how much affecting the speed of ram (fully buffered/ecc) from 533/667/800mhz for rendering purposes (max+vray) my processor is 2x quad xeon 3ghz 1333fsb and the test renders mostly done around 30 minutes in 1200x600 resolution thanks alot
