Devin Johnston
This was just posted: Hi everyone, We know you are all impatiently awaiting the release of Maxwell Render 1.5… I would just like to let you know where we are release-wise: Maxwell Render 1.5 will be released next week (the week starting May 21, 2007). As mentioned before, we want this to be completely ready, with all resources completed, and everything set for release. Some further, not-mentioned-before features will come with the release, as well as a complete list of bug-fixes and improvements. You WILL get answers next week (plus, you will be able to try 1.5 yourself ). Therefore I will also have to ask you not to start or continue any further forum threads regarding when 1.5 will be out or what will be in it. I understand the wait is long, but let’s please make sure the forum is used for asking advice from fellow Maxwell users, sharing images, technical help, that sort of thing, and not for speculation and ranting. Thanks for your help. Now, next week..... it’s not far off. Cheers, Nicole
Ernest Burden III
Now, next week..... it’s not far off. Entering now is a little girl in a red dress, singing "tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, you're always a day away". No, really, this time it'll be good. Hey, maybe it will. Wouldn't that be something! Ernest Burden III
congrats on 4,444 posts Ernest. Is that something special? It just says I have too much free time. Which I don't, in fact. Anyway, its gone now. When I get to 4500 I'm retiring. I promise. I'll be on the beach in Isla Mujeras, permanently. Well, maybe I should make it 5000 just to have a nice, round, meaningless number. Ernest Burden III
Ok, i'm sorry sir. Nothing to be sorry for, I'm just wondering if there's a special web milestone of posts counts like 333, 4444 (or the dreaded 9999) that I missed the memo on. Its hard to keep up with these things, what with all the typing I do. So don't worry, I'm smiling.

ClaudeFerret
Happy fun ball!!! At the end of next week it will be another delay. They haven't even wrapped up development on 1.5 to focus solely on testing. If they had, their language would be entirely different. They are simply selling lies to their customer base. Devin Johnston
I know you are on sound footing saying that given that they did the exact same thing a little over a year ago, but do you really think there going to do that again. The last time they did that they were in the midst of figuring out that the new engine they had been working on for months (RS2) wasn't going to work and they had to backtrack to the old RS1 engine. I don't see how anything they have done over the past year would require a setback like that one but I do agree that at this point most of the testing should be complete. I think it's probably more likely that they are just making extra sure they have a solid release instead of deliberately lying.
_PopArt
hehe its funny that they have to lock their announcement threads, i guess they don't want their customers to reply them anymore, I can't immagine thats the case anywhere else. I just hope it wasnt like the rc's when they were behind but decided to give in to customer pressure and release whatever that they had completed up until the last second of the release date. It's a pretty bad sign that so few images have been released before the final release, like always we can only hope for the best

Ernest Burden III
definitely the best one. That's what my family calls me. My studio is the top floor--the attic--of my house. I'd love to take credit for this, but it comes from a cartoon my sister clipped from somewhere and taped up on her or my refrigerator. It showed a bathroom with three embroidered towels. One read 'his', the next 'hers' and the last one read 'the thing in the basement'. Are we going to get you to NY, or what? Maybe that'll get me out of the attic. I'll take the train in and meet you for lunch. You can tell me what the hip kids are listening to. It's actually a nice attic. I have some computers, some Yellow Submarine figures. Victor Gonzalez
Hi Carlo, I would like to know if you have any complaints in the way you were treated and received in Next Limit last year. If I am not wrong, after some previous emails I met you and your colleague in the office to explain your development plans. After some deliberation we kindly rejected it due to two reasons: the cost was very expensive and the development plan was not reaching the expected quality, in our opinion. We offered you an alternative, becoming a Maxwell reseller and selling your own plugin, but you declined the offer. I am very worried that you feel bad about the way you were treated here, and I would like to know the details so we can improve it for future meetings. I also hope you are not disappointed by the way we finished that meeting, inviting you and your colleague to a couple of champagne drinks with the rest of Next Limit team. I thought you were enjoying it, my apologies if not. Regards, Victor

Regards, Victor ehehehehh this was just because i am curious to know if you read this forum...and i was right! what i am asking you here is(due the fact that doing this on your official forum i'll be probably immediately banned): 1) is how come that NL keep to not answer to his angry customers about effective facts that 2 years have passed and we haven't all our promised features working yet. 2) the price wasn't high, i've accepted what you offered me, but even after this you chosen to do this "in house", instead of working on the other not fully-working plugins. The success of a product like maxwell clearly depends on how much is compatible and integrated in other packages, and BTW the right thing to do is use the experience of long term specialist like me. I work on softimage since 1998, and i can say that me and my guys can do the job in a quick and clear way. 3) it has no sense that i become a reseller, nobody would buy a xsi plugin from me due the fact you promised it to people years ago, so the only way was to sell it to NL as an official product. 4) the only thing that pissed me was that i told you that i was coming to Spain to meet you and clearly when i've arrived at your office nobody was waiting me and my colleague, that was truly sad. 5) i wrote you emails trying to finalize our business but i haven't received answers for two months. Dear Victor, i must really tell you, you need to change your politics with people, and hire a true marketing and pr manager, because your success actually depends on the fact that Maxwell is the only Unbiased engine on the market, and , you know that, this won't last forever. hoping to work with you in the future i give you my best regards. Quoted for agreement... Victor- you really ought to consider doing a question and answer session on this forum. You've got some aggressive competitors nipping at your heels, and they're gaining ground. One reason for their increasing popularity- they *would* be willing to enter a forum to discuss concerns. And they'd give us the straight story, too. Real communication is long overdue, but better late than never, right???
Ernest Burden III
Dear Victor, i must really tell you, you need to change your politics with people, and hire a true marketing and pr manager I am impressed to read Victor's post here, and he does now have Nicole. She has made more positive things happen in a few months than others did in a year before her. But Victor--I'm still mad about the arch-vis focused interview you guys agreed to last year but didn't return. Oh, well. It cannot be said that I just complain and don't try to make things better between NL and the MWR customers. You are on your own from now on. Adehus
Fry has just announced that they will be releasing a demo version of their app while it is still in beta: http://www.fryrender.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=1337&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 Sounds like they're trying to steal some of NL's thunder... I think it's working.
Devin Johnston
This is good news it will allow those of us who haven't been able to determine if Fry is = Maxwell give it a shot. I know those of you (Fran, Ernest and others) have been pretty happy with Fry which is as good an endorsement as I can think of. Hopefully once the demo is released they will be able to talk about details that they otherwise haven't been able to share because of the NDA.
