AJLynn
So since the NDA just expired, and the prerelease pricing will expire soon, please, people who have the Fryrender beta - give us all some unfiltered commentary right now that would help us decide whether to buy it at the prerelease price
Ernest Burden III
Enough about Fry in a Maxwell thread. I'll address this elsewhere. Maybe its the competition, maybe its the spring air in Madrid, whatever, I'm cautiously optimistic about what NextLimit is up to. By this time next Friday we should be in a position to make a reasoned judgment.
numerobis
so NOW it would be the right time for NL to show us ALL the great new features (displace? instancing??) of v1.5 immediately! to show us that they can compete and prevent some of their customers (me e.g. ) to jump on the fry-train before the preorder ends. feversoft has placed the end of the preorder period very clever and in the same bad way as nl has done before v1.0, because they don't give us the exact date to let us buy hurried. Giovanni Scocchera
well guys, when 1.5 finally comes out, it will with a XSI plugin, and thats what i'm waiting for. when we'll see that it will not work decently, i'll finally want to talk about my trip to Madrid that i've done last year. on how i met victor and how i've discovered how the guys at NL truly are. So, Gattomanzo, here we are... http://www.treddi.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=39287&st=0&p=380656entry380656 what do you think about XSI's plug-in? Ciao, Gio
Gattomanzo
well, as Gio said, here we are. XSI plugin is arrived, i downloaded and tryed last night for about half an hour, 5.x and 6.x versions, and i must say... is almost i expect it to be. could be easy to say, but it must be understood that XSI has its own philosophy, so if someone develops something not respecting the way a software is build, it can generate confusion: installation is as easy as possible, get the .xsiaddon and drag it on XSI, this can make you think that a plugin can come without instructions, that is possible if the functions of the plugins (the custom menus) will appear where a XSI user expects them to be. well no instructions (at present time) and (apparently) no way to oneclick-startup the maxwell interface (or i haven't found it ). i've analyzed the xsiaddon via the pluginmanager, and it seems that all parts are there, but i was too tired last night to do a serious attempt to make it work. probably the plugin is perfectly done, speaking about functions and programming, what lacks is about engineering, an interface it MUST be immediate, easy and understandable. but have no fear, i think that this is easily fixable, with a .pdf and a workflow. at this point i must say another thing: i was surprised about the manual, do you know that we must pay to print it? no comment. AJLynn
Yeah, and the company that publishes the manual apparently doesn't exist yet. Their web site is a generic hosting company start page, and they don't come up on Google. WTF? I guess I'm going to have to print it myself.
