3DEXTRUDE
Hey guys, i was just wondering if anyone here use Zbrush 3? I just downloaded my copy of Zbrush 3.0 from pixologic, and its really great for my character modeling needs. Anyone else here using that application or ever used zbrush?? Ricardo Eloy
ZBrush is indeed a great app. But not for what most of us do here (archviz). A friend of mine beta-tested this 3rd version and said it's amazing, though.

So, its a huge help for me. I used version 2.0 which was also great, but 3.0 is way beyond of my expectation. I am not new to 3D, only archviz I like archviz as well, but i do not think that i will quit sculpting characters and dedicate my time only to archviz. Its really fun, even if you only do it for yourself. Now, its easier than ever to create characters of your own. Zbrush gives you the freedom to sculpt now, and think later. Archviz is the other way around. By the way i really like archviz as well. So, i guess i got both worlds on my fingertips. I got so used to intous tablets, that i am using my tablet for any 3D work, including archviz. Its really fun to not really touch your keyboard or mouse. cheerz.. Nic H
i was looking at the website yesterday and i think it looks great, i gotta try a demo, i love the 3d texture painting thing as I think UVW unwrapping is a stupid outdated and counter intuitive way to texture. I could see myself using zbrush for some architectural elements and utilising normal maps / displacemnt maps in max vray. Now to get a spare moment! I agree UVW mapping is outdated, that is why i am using Silo2.0 at the moment. Its easier than any program out there to setup your uvs, export the model to your current 3d application, maya or 3ds max, and drop your texture on it and u are done.. Zbrush on the other hand is also great, because u can paint directly on your model with current textures you have taken with your digital camera or paint your own. U can use automatic mapping, paint your texture on your models architecture or character, really it dont matter. Export your texture and uvs from zbrush and u are done... I really hope one of these days that these big high-end applications or companies like Autodesk would implement an easier way to uvw map your models. Currently compared to even LOW-END applications like Silo, or mid level Modo, (which cost a lot less than 3ds max or Maya) They are still light years ahead of 3ds Max and Maya in terms of UVW mapping...Out of all of them my favoire is Silo...for a $109 bucks, it has the best UV mapping and modeling tools for me.. Ernest Burden III
Zbrush 3 is out already? I thought it was coming this summer, and was only being described now. I guess I should go upgrade my aging v2.
