If you can read this, it means you are now currently viewing CGarchitect.com from our new RackSpace servers. The migration of the site took about a week behind the scenes and we were down for about 24 hours over the weekend. As with any migration of this type, there may still be some bugs or errors that could occur due to missed configuration settings.

If you see errors anywhere on the site, or if something does not work as it once did, please post the issues here so that I can take a look at them.

Cheers,

Jeff

Ooooh! 'RackSpace'! Jeff spares no expense for us. Sounds like we have a high-end dedicated server ;) I wonder how scared Jeff was to be having the move occur during the AVC? Thanks Jeff, quality as usual.

Funny, only another website owner would appreciate the insanity of running the AVC and doing a server migration at the same time. :D

Yeah, RackSpace is definetly not cheap, but MAN is their support good! It's the reason I moved away from my old host. Their motto of "Fanatical Support" most definetly holds true. Anything critical that happens and they litterally have a tech working on it in less than 10 min.

Hopefully this will keep up.

I think I found a bug: the wedsite seems A LOT faster... oh, hold on, is that a feature?...

Seriously now, it seems to be working a lot faster than before.

Congratulations,

That is really good to hear. There are a few reasons for this. At our old host we had a single dedicated server running two database apps, a mail server, Spam filter, ad server, newsletter mailer etc. The server was so overloaded that it was pegged to 100% with 3.5 GB of RAM consumed 90% of the time.

We now have two deciated dual core servers. One if to run web application and the other dedicated exclusivly to running the databases.

So far there has been no end to the problems I have run into and for the last 3 daysI have been working about 20 hours a day. The only thing left it to figure out how to fix the job board. If there are any PHP gurus out there let me know jmottle@cgarchitect.com

LOL! I remember during two contest my original provider told me they were switching servers once and data centers, boy was I furious when my site was down! LOL The old "If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong" seems to be the case most of the time.

But seriously, so the community knows, in the world of hosting and dedicated servers, RackSpace seems to be king and they charge for it. When searching for a provider, you look for the company with the least amount of complaints, they all have numerous ones, so you have to figure that the most reputable company with the least amounts of negative comments on the Internet is a pretty good solution. Then there is 'RackSpace', in a sea of people putting down companies, the only thing you seem to see is "Sure they provide excellent service, but you pay for it"

I just wanted everybody to know Jeff is paying the big bucks to provide you with the best service possible. It is these types of things along with all the work behind the scene that most people don't realize or appreciate and I thought I would point it out ;)
