pailhead
Hi there, A lot of people were interested in the lawns that can be seen in my recent renderings. A while ago i decided to put them on turbosquid to see if they will sell. Well, the link can be found here -[eye-level lawn collection]- check it out if you're interested and let me know what you think. I've been intending to broaden the library and to add a bit of a variation since these lawns are really even and clean, but they go well with the clean, new and cg-ish look of our renderings. It's a really simple and fast, but very effective way to create lawns in still images. If you decide to give it a shot, i would appreciate some feedback. STRAT
a tad expensive for a few photos dont you think? i've got equally good eye level grass photos in my library and it only cost me my time and effort with my digi cam. nice idea, but why not give CGA users full free downloads for say a 30 day period for good grace? i remember doing that with my water shaders. had thousands of downloads. put a minimum price tag on them a coulpe of months later and had hardly any takers. just my thoughts. pailhead
This kind of feedback helps a lot I figured that it's still cheaper than driving out somewhere, finding a suitable lawn, obtaining a permission, using a $400+ camera... I mean, an effort like that surely takes a few hours. But i guess i'm not supposed to be looking at it that way, i'm not selling it to a single person. I've lowered the price a bit. pipjor
I(my company) bought this collection, it was 10pm and i needed it for a 9am presentation.... plus it would still be cheaper than for me to drive around find a spot shot the photos etc..
STRAT
i'm not saying it wouldn't, and for some it'll be an asset, i just feel the fees you'll make in TS will be bearly talkable. pocket money. i've been there and done that. you might find it worth allot more posting them here for free as a kind gesture to your piers which will earn you a heck of a lot more cudos and credability all round. pailhead
i've been there and done that. you might find it worth allot more posting them here for free as a kind gesture to your piers which will earn you a heck of a lot more cudos and credability all round. I've never really intended to get rich from this, i was thinking more along the lines to make my effort worth while, and so far it has. If i manage to sell each model that i've custom built for a project a few times, it will make that effort more valuable. And to be honest, i'm not too keen to earn cudos and credibility all around. Everything you share, or even try to sell, ends up on warez sites all over the place, and tomorrow someone will be offering renderings for $50 with half your stuff in them, and set up according to the settings that you've shared. Making this available for a small fee will filter out the professionals, from the others, and is less likely to end up all around the internet as opposed to a certain community where i'm aiming for cudos and credibility. And if an archviz company or individual can't spare $50 for something useful, than it's a good moment to consider the future of our careers.
