maurocar
Hi Guys, It's been a while since I posted my last Thread but I was quite busy!! Nice to see you again! I have started to have a look at Vray for the 1st time and went trough some tutorials online. I must say I had some progress in 1 week but there are some things I cant really understand! In my interior test scene I am using a large Vray light outside the window and a direct light too. My settings are on the low side at the moment. I have a really hard time trying to get some reflections on the tiles, which at the moment are non existing...cant understand why. Another big problem are the grains!! I'm using Primary GI Engine: Irradiance Mapr and Sec GI: QMC. When I set the Primary as Light Cache and Sec as Irradiance the grain dissapiared but the detail wasnt the same. Some thing I noticed is that the QMC Noise sampler threshold cant go lower the 0.1!! Is that a bug??? Where ever I read the setting of the sampler are 0.002/0.
erickdt
I would recommend using Irradiance Map for your primary bounce and Light Cache for your secondary bounce. Typically for test renders I'll have Irradiance map set to the "medium" or "low" preset with both the HSph subdivision and the interpolation samples fields at 20 or 30. Light Cache subdivisions should be set to 1000 with a sample size of .02. As for the QMC sampler I would recommend having the noise threshold set somewhere between .005 and .05 (.05 for test renders). And then I would ask you what anti-aliasing filer are you using? I typically use adaptive subdivision with min subdivisions set to 2 and max set to 6. Good luck!
maurocar
Hi Eric, I tried your settings and I must say it did one hell of a difference. My only worry is the rendering time!! I have attached the progress it mage in 6hrs!!! I had a res set to 1024x768 and Irradiance map set to high. Is there a way I can tweak Vray and lower the rendering time?? I still havent managed to get reflection for the ceramic floor tiles.
maurocaruana
I finished my 1st rendering test......same settings as above but 800x600 pixels...The issue is still the rendering time. Comments please....In the mean time I will continue adding objects and trying the materials. I also attached a copuple of renderings I had done for the same project with Radiosity and the 3 rendering with Vray.
