Smoother
Hi all! I have to make some fly-through animations, and to speed up my frames render, i have to turn off glossy effects. There is any way to get brushed chrome effects without turn ON glossy effects? Could anyone help me to make this kind of material to use with glossy efefcts OFF? Thank you Best Regards
Ky Lane
http://www.vray-materials.de My only real suggestion, other than just faking it with a diffuse map.
Ricardo Eloy
A great part of the beauty of brushed metal is the glossy reflection, so I guess the result without it won't be as nice. Anyway, you can turn the Trace Reflections option of the material off, so you'll get the anisotropic highlight without the long render times (BUT, no reflection at all). Mechadus
If you use a falloff map in the diffuse map (lighter in FG, darker in BG), then turn reflections up a bit (like 25 on RGB). You can unlink the reflection and highlight glossiness... if you turn the highlight glossiness down, but leave the reflection glossiness at 1.0, you can get pretty close to a brushed looking metal. It will reflect like a mirror, but will render really quick. Thats how I do that sort of thing for exterior cameras where you never really get close to the material. Oh yeah - mess with the anisotropic highlights - -0.03 is a good setting for metals Hope that helps -Nick Kropat
