Stu Mayhew
Using SketchUp and the Kerkythea plug-in. Kerkythea is great for a totally free app. and the plug-in in SketchUp makes it a breeze for a rendering clunkhead like me.
bytor
Stu, That is a wonderfull image - I truly like the "feel" of it. With so much vegetation - it is more photoreal than I thought would look right. Are your plants a mix of 2d / 3d? Were they generated elsewhere and brought in to Sketchup? Thanks for sharing this - I remember the npr versions from somewhere else! Stu Mayhew
Thanks Dean, The plants are all 3D. Some come from FormFonts [The Palms, Strelitzia, Monstrea] some came from the old SketchUp forum and some I made myself using Plant Studio. Its more difficult to get a realistic effect using 3D entourage but it makes composition and natural shadow effects so much easier;) Stu
P.R.S. Sivakumar .
Nice image. I wonder why Kerkythea is not still being taken really seriously by the majority of the visualisers. It is simple and easy to use. PRSS
Stu Mayhew
Thanks P.R.S., I obviously agree with you. I think it can produce images at least on par with apps. like Artlantis, for example.
IC
I think you've hit the nail on the head. The images are like those produced by Artlantis but these days, virtually no-one uses Artlantis because there are such advanced alternatives. They are nice images but you are limited to a certain standard and if that works for you that's great.
jendrzych
Since Kerkythea offers both - biased and unbiased render methods, it's beyond doubt that Artlantis can't be compared with KT. Check KT's gallery at kerkythea.net... or look at first three pics here: http://jendrzych.cgsociety.org/gallery/
