Thiago de Andrade
just quickly looking, the concrete texture is way too grey and without the real bumps and "dirtiness", try colouring it with a more yellow tone and add some bumps. The camera angle is not so good either. And the interior too dark, probably needs to work more on the glass shaders. Keep up
Cynthia Hansen
Hmm, well actually I don't think that it's just that the concrete is "too grey" but rather that you either need to make some adjustments in Photoshop with gamma, levels etc. or adjust your hdri map that you're using (if you're using one)as the whole image has a blue hue to it. Are you using a specific renderer? I hope you don't mind but I made some adjustments in Photoshop so that you could see the difference.
drvox
Hi Cynthia, thanks for the colour correction, didn't noticed that... I guess that blue colour is because I have a plane behind the scene with vraylight material and the sky bitmap... Nice correction;) I'm using vraysun & sky. If i choose not to have vraysky and put a bitmap in the environment it becomes all black so that was the only thing I remeber to do to have the background image.... Thanks! guitarboy
Stick your background into the environment slot in environment settings in max, then in your render settings, add your vray sky into the environment overide slot, that way youll still get you GI info fro your sky, but youll still have your backgroud image. drvox
Thanks a lot. It works, in exterior scenes...it isn't working when I render an interior scene, unless I hide the glass objects:confused: any idea of what's going wrong?
guitarboy
possibly your glass material itself, can u post ur set up and material settings etc?
drvox
My initial glass (for test when something is wrong) is default vraymaterial with diffuse black, refraction and reflection white and fresnel turned on... Then I just keep playing around with the reflection colour.. King Regards
Poll
The second image is trully EXCELLENT! Design & renderwise! 1 Crit would be that the floor seems to become higher the further it hangs over the cliff. Intended? good job anyway!

Tommy L
I thought it was a render before in read the thread. Its one of those photos that has alot of elements that are often in a cg image. The way the building sits, it looks like its been comped. It has really uniform soft shadows. The furniture is somehow a little cliched and 'evermotion-ish'. The blue cushions on the couch look cg as well.
drvox
Well, actually it really is a photograph...since the house I'm working on is quite similar to that one, I was using the photo as a reference.... I need to create a similar concrete, as well as the others materials... I wonder if anyone can give me some advise of how to improve my exterior scenes of this house...i spent lots of time with the house lightning, but I bealive that the problem is on materials... My scenes are in my blog, http://cgarchitecture.blogspot.com as Work in Progress. Any comments are welcome and precious Thanks a lot, King Regards
Poll
I don't have any real advanced experience on this field, but did you give painting them yourself a try? Unwrapping them and then making a huge (or not) texture in photoshop (or what you use). Then you have a great diffuse map, and with a little more work a Highlight glossiness and bump map. Then you should have the ideal concrete exteriour texture. Lots of photo's are on the internet of concrete (close-ups) and tuts on how to remove the flash and make them material ready. I tried it once, and it worked like a charm. Excactly the material i wanted, the way i wanted!

I bealive that my texturing process is very poor and your answer was really interesting for me...actually, do you still remeber which tutorial have you tried? If you can refer it to me that would be very nice About the toilet, was just a trainning scene that I've made for fun King Regards
