RyanSpaulding
A client gave me this file thats supposed to be a 3d model of an isolator (piece of equipment) but I cant find any program that can read it. Does anyone have any ideas?
AFK_Matrix
Google is your friend. Just type in STP file format, there are readers out there.
RyanSpaulding
Well, I still had no luck. All the readers have broken links to the download. I gotta figure out how to convert this thing.
John Dollus
STP also known as a 'step' file. You can use Polytrans from Okino: http://www.okino.com/conv/pt4max.htm You can download the demo to verify the model but it won't export a complete model without buying it. $395 You can also ask the client to re-export it as a DXF, DWG or 3ds file but there are so many factors having to deal with in the translation, you would be better off with a native importer for Max like Polytrans so you can tweak it until you get satisfactory results
jackb602
FormZ also has a STEP translator available as a plugin here.
