rachel
you guys keep talking and showing some stunning images done with final render. I am a 3d Viz 4 user. Is there any demo version of final render that I could try? cheers. rachel
STRAT
i could be mistaken, but i'm sure cebas dont do a final render demo.
rachel
i think that you might be right. is this plug in coming with max 5?
STRAT
nope. it doesn't 'come with' max, you have to purchase it separately. but if you have max 5 why not use max 5's own radiosity renderer? or even purchase Brazil r/s plug in which is even better? http://www.finalrender.com/index.asp?UD=10-7888-35-
rachel
no, i use 3d viz 4. can I achieve the same quality rendering with viz 4 without final render?
STRAT
of course you can Viz 4's own radiosity renderer is more than adequate. it can produce some stunning imagery. the trick is is knowing how to use it properly
rachel
well that is always been my problem:using radiosity properly :gebigeek: . I came across a stunning tutorials written by J.Ray brookes. Do you have any other suggestions of how to use radiosity like a virtuose by any chances?
STRAT
absolutely i do. you've got the tutorials, now the way to perfect your technique lies in one direction - P R A C T I C E, P R A C T I C E, P R A C T I C E We all have to go through this stage and even after years of practice we still learning. nothing comes over night. If you know the theory (which those tuts give you), practive IS the only way.
rachel
i think i knew that . Thank you anyway. I shall go and PRACTICE now. take care, Rachel

Craig Ramsay
BTW Rachel if you are looking at a new renderer I would recomend V-ray or Brazil over Finalrender Craig

rachel
oh dear! I thought that you were a technician. so Michael laird have got modellers! Nice one. I don't know why i thought that you were using pixel image. oh well, we learn everyday! Have you got any examples of what you do Craig? So about these renderers:vRay and brazil. Could you tell me more?I heard about those before but never actually tried them.
Craig Ramsay
Depends what you wan't out of a renderer really... Finalrender can produce nice results but it puts serious strain on to your processor/processors and uses a huge amount of memory it can also be quite slow. Support is not very good. Brazil has probably the best quality of them all but can also be quite slow (very nice renderer ). Support is quite good. V-ray is rapid and if you know what you are doing then you can get very nice results but Brazil IMHO has a better quality output. Vray support is very good.
