njoco2
Hi all, I`m trying to export a .3ds file from max (simple house model) and all I`m getting is max`s standard materials (only colors, not textures) included in the .3ds file. I`ve read max help files and it states that textures can`t be exported with the 3ds file. My question is...Is there a way to keep the textures in the same file with the 3d model? thanks Jovica p.s. I`m exporting from 3ds max
jophus14
I was told to use "Save Selected" under the File dropdown when asking a similar question. Then you can go to File>Merge in the new scene and your textures/materials should still be there once the model imports into that scene. Make sure you keep the bitmap/jpegs in the same folders from you originally got them from.

Koper
yup, .obj also export textures, so you can actually exchange textures between maya and max when you import the .3ds file i think you just have to go activate the textures on the object by opening up the material editor and using the eyedrop tool to select the material on the object, then just say 'show material' if it then don't work you have to use the asset tracking to specify where those materials are on the comp.
