markf
I'm trying to get Vray running on a new machine. I have it networked to my older machine that has the vray license server on it. I have used the Edit/set license server info section of the Vray Authorization rollout. Entered the IP address of the machine with the Vray License server on it. All I get is "Could not obtain license" Screen shot attached. Does anyone know anything about this? I really need help getting this to work
AJLynn
Two things: Do one or both of the computers have firewall software blocking it? Did you type the IP address correctly? 192.168 is the reserved private class B subnet; 196.168 is not.
markf
Thank you for your help. I have disabled all of the firewall software on both machines. I did type the ip address correctly. I'm not sure what your comment regarding the 192 vs 196 means. I can ping the ip address of each machine from the other. i can't get this to work
AJLynn
My comment meant that mmaybe where you have 196.168.1.4 in the Vray configuration, perhaps that's a typo, since the standard practice is to use 192.168 addresses for internal networks, rather than 196.168. markf
I understand and you are correct. I had a typo in my screen shot. I have been trying with the correct ip address. I just went through all of the same steps that I have repeated probably 30+ times with a tech support person and suddenly voila it's working. i think it may have been as simple as exiting the licnese server on the older machine and re launching it. Thank you all for helping with this. I don't know what happened to suddenly get this working but I won't question it.
