antonio_frias
I have a max file of a box. When i select the box, max tells me that it is an editable poly but I don't have access to any of the sub objects. When I render it, max renders out a bush. In my material editor, if I extract the material from the box, I get a simple texture with no maps except the diffuse. I'm completely lost, I can't seem so understand what's going on or how it was created. I don't want to ask the person who sent it to me because I'm the one who's supposed to know how to work with max. Can anyone help me out on this? Thx
chiquito
mmmm sounds tricky. I would apply a diferent material slot and see what happens try collapsing it and see what happens, see if the sub seelection gets active apply an edit poly (again) see if the sub seelection gets active could it be a proxy element? or a geometry from a plug in or texture pack? antonio_frias
Proxy? I didn't think of that! But... If it was a proxy object I would need to have an external file to be able to render it and all I have is the one max file.
intero_ua
Can you show a screenshot? First thing that comes in mind, is the "display as box" checkbox checked in object properties?
antonio_frias
Thx Alexander Your absolutely right! The "display as box" checkbox was checked in object properties. I could have spent all night trying to figure it out and I wouldn't have thought of that. My problem was that I was looking for something complicated when the the solution was actually very simple! Once again thx
jvlive
This is interesting. But there's still unanswered questions. Like where did the bitmap/texture come from if you only got a max file? And why arent the sub-objects accessible?
