Geoffc
Ok, who's feelin generous? We're considering the move to revit here in the next few months. Is there anyone that has a completed (cd's or sheets set up) revit project/file that they wouldn't mind sharing with us? We'd love to be able to open up a finished project and sift through the sheets, drawings, schedules, etc and see what the end product of a revit set looks like. If someone has one, please email to: geoffc@tomaro.com Thx!
antonio_frias
Have you tried the Revit training files that you can download at Autodesk.com?
Geoffc
Have you tried the Revit training files that you can download at Autodesk.com? No, I haven't tried downloading anything yet but a bunch of their pdf's describing interoperability with acad and a couple vids from cadclips. The finished set is more to show the others here in the office.
angelo
Geoff, That's a pretty tall order, as a full blown BIM model has a great deal more information in it than a simple CAD set. In the spirit of sharing knowledge, we've shown our projects to other firms around town, but that's more of a local thing (and they buy us a good lunch). You might have better luck talking with a local Revit reseller to find out what firms in your area have really pushed the software and see if there is any networking or personal connections. In my experience, there are a lot of firms talking about their "use of Revit or ArchiCAD", but in reality they are doing a lot of hybrid stuff to get a project out the door. Very few have highly detailed and complete sets done completely in Revit (all details native and a complete presentation quality 3D model). Of our three or four large projects, it wasn't until the third one that we have successfully done it entirely native in Revit (including an integrated Revit Structure model). Good luck! Geoffc
I don't mean to ask for someone's hard earned work, I wouldn't think of emailing off our entire autocad detail library! I was hoping for just a smaller cd set, but perhaps I'm not sure what that entails. I'm not even sure how you detail in Revit, and I'm sure you are correct about most people still doing a hybrid set. I do like your idea about finding a local Revit users group in L.A. and seeing if someone could share their sets.
Razorback
Go to your nearest reseller and ask a copy of the library project. The library project was a completed project but unfortunately I forgot the designer it shows almost complete documentation of the project and it used to be included in the installer cd from the earlier version from 5 to 7 I guess. I have a copy of it but it's around 30MB file.
Onslaught
I'm not even sure how you detail in Revit, and I'm sure you are correct about most people still doing a hybrid set. 2D. That's right, there is 2D in Revit. Revit details consist of components, a 5/8" gyp. bd., 1/2" ply. wd., wide flanges, I-beams etc. all pre-built in revit all 2D. Found this : http://forums.augi.com/archive/index.php/t-54825.html hope this helps.
