Stephen Thomas
I am looking to upgrade to a Logitech MX 518 optical mouse from the lightweight MS one that came with my machine. It looks like a pretty good option, I just have one query. Does anyone know how the scroll wheel functions in max? I had a Logitech before and it was one of the tilt wheel types and I couldn't click and pan in my viewports using the wheel like I can on the Microsoft. Anyone had experience of this model? mbowers
You'll most likely need to adjust your mouse settings in the control panel. My Dell mouse has the scroll button listed as a middle button (ie 3 button mouse) Play with the settings..Hope this helps.

I couldn't alter this with my last logitech mouse and I just wanted to find out before I fork out £35. Anybody actually using one at the moment? alfienoakes
I have the Logitech MX revolution and that has a tilt mouse button etc.. If you look into the Logitech forums there are plenty of instructions on how to program the buttons, and yes I have the middle button as pan in Max and Autocad. Tommy L
I would recommend that you buy the nostromo Belkin for your left hand. Then you can aesily program a pan function into that. But like already stated, you can program your mouse button functions as well. I really dont regret getting the belkin nostromo. Its cheap, easy to use and program, stops you looking at the keyboard for the shortcuts. Oh, and it makes you feel kind of bionic.
Stephen Thomas
Thanks for your input guys! The Nostromo looks interesting, sounds like a spaceship and looks suitably 'star trek' too! I think I'll stick with the old mouse and keyboard combo for now, I need to upgrade my mouse anyway and cost of both just a bit much for now. Maybe if can get an in-store demo I might be swayed! As far as I can see the MX 518 definitely doesn't have the tilt type wheel, just scroll and click, so I guess that will be ok. There are also two programmable thumb buttons as well so I think I'll go for this one. Read some good reviews. I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers. Tommy L
Nostroms only about 20 quid and usable with all programs.
