Vray vs C4D

I'm pretty impressed with all the Vray renders I see here, lot's of talented artists and a good render engine. I only have Cheetah 3D at the moment and the quality doesn't match what I'm seeing here in terms of the render engine. So, I'm looking at other options, like Vray and SU or C4D. What does everyone think between the two as far as a quality render engine?

Thanks in advance.

I like both of them quite a lot. Vray is usually faster at GI, but I usually find that C4D (with the Advanced Render and Sketch&Toon modules) makes it easier for me to get some illustrative effects that I like, and the sky system is really good.

If they manage to get the Vray for C4D plugin out soon, that would be pretty cool. The render plugin options for C4D for now are Maxwell, Fry and finalRender.

AJ: not sure if you know the answer but in the version 9 demo I see the advanced renderer in the list of modules but I can't figure out where to install it? The radiosity setting isn't showing up.

Radiosity has been renamed (more accurately) to Global Illumination in R9. You can find the main GI settings in the Render Settings window, under Global Illumination.

You can find an old but still very useful tutorial on Cinema's GI here.

You know the thought crossed my mind that they renamed it GI until I saw the module in the main folder called radiosity, go figure.

Thanks jack. :)
