GEO1979
Hello friends! Does anyone know the answer to my problem? I'm modeling in Autocad and linking the file in Max8. The model contains several houses with a lot of curves. When I render in VRAY, the edges of the houses and the triangles of the objects appear as black lines ruining the image! What can I do to get a clear image?? Thanx in advance!
alfienoakes
post an example.. it will give people a clearer idea of what they are dealing with..
djoshi
Some times I get this kind of trouble when I have two faces at the same plane(position) I am not sure that this is happening in our case, but you can check this.
Thablanch
Yep, coplanar faces would be my first check too.
GEO1979
that's what I'm talking about. Multihouse complex done in Autocad, then linked in Max 8. The test render is like that. I've checked and these are not coplanar surfaces! Thanx to all!!!
lambros
they look like tesselated polygons with edges rendered. I would guess that there is a modeling problem. Please post a wireframe and vray settings too. Are you using vray materials? I think that modelling in max is more preferable, you get cleaner results, especially if you need to render with vray. djoshi
Yes.. pls. post wireframe, Vray settings & also Export-import options.. As far as I think always avoid triagulated faces...
alfienoakes
I think that modelling in max is more preferable, you get cleaner results, especially if you need to render with vray. Not if you have been modeling in Acad for years... You can get the exact results you want from Cad, you just need to make sure of your import settings from Acad to Viz / Max, and your surface settings in Acad. I do recall seeing something about the file link manager in Max.. could be 9 or 8.. but there were issues. Check it out in case.. Anyhow, settings for filelink..never have Auto-smooth checked. Keep the weld threshold at 1mm, or similar dependent on units, dont bother including any extras, ie xrefs, hatches etc.. unless specifically required. You also need to be mindful of your creation process in Acad. If you are using Mass elements, make sure you have their settings set high enough to smooth tessellated surfaces, same goes for solids. Lambros certainly has a point though. Some elements I will do in Viz, especially the more organic shapes, but I can pretty much knock together most things in Acad, certainly all of the model shown here. GEO1979
Thanks for the reply. I'll check it out. Maybe it's a problem with the number of polygons in the scene, cause the pool alone without the houses, will render OK. I'll try to model the pool in Max and post a wire as soon as possible. Thank you all!!
