hereagain
I need a modular cmu pattern to wrap around a building I am working on. I'm not sure what settings I need to work with in the UVW Map modifier to do this. I plan on repeating this module along the entire outside facade of the builidng, which will include several different planes, not all of them being at 90 degree angles to each other. Any advice on how best to achieve this? Thanks for the help.
batteryoperatedlettuce
well there's lots of ways you could deal with that. Try this. -Detach the two faces of the wall for the moment into seperate objects -Give each of them an apropriately sized uvw map. -Slide the map gizmo along on the back wall until the map reaches the point at which the pattern repeats -Colapse the stacks if you wish, re-attach the planes and weld verticies... or -detach the two faces as a single object -add a UVW unwrap -go into edit mode and position the normals as required. Nils Norgren
1. set the uvw mapping to take care of the first part of the wall 2. add an edit mesh (or edit Poly) modifier, select the next part 3. (With the selection still active) Add a uvw mapping modifier and set the mapping for the second part 4. work around entire model using steps 2 and 3 5. Collapse all UVWs and Edit Mesh modifiers. OR Use UVW unwrap, this tool has many built in features for alignment of the mesh to the map, this is the fastest way to do this, it can be a bit daunting if you have never used it before, the help has good information about this tool. -Nils
