AFK_Matrix
Hi, I want to create a CD that I can hand out along with a business card to introduce myself and the work I do. What I want to do is get a job in the US and as i'm going to be going over there for 3 months thought that if I have a CD I can leave with them or send them it would sell myself better. So what would potential employers want to see in the presentation? Should it be a slideshow of my images or should I put information in like my CV etc? mbowers
I would leave them a packaged CD including only your finest work. Always provide a CV or Resume, both hard copy (for the old school designers) and electronic. If your handy with Adobe Flash or Director you can market yourself fairly effectively with your work on the CD. If your media is more static (rendered stills) good 'ol PowerPoint or equal software will suffice for the super busy principal architects. If your going after only 3D work, then it should be fairly straightforward. If your going after architectural design then the breadth of your work will be bigger..knowledge in plans, sections, elevations, renderings; process process process!!! I once got turned down for a job because i didn't show any conceptual sketches leading up to the final product. That hurt. It would be then that i would contact them personally, and set up meetings or interviews. That's the way i would do it, depends on how eager you are, and what your comfort level is. Hope this helps. Im sure i'm missing somethings, people will help me fill in.
