trino
I thought that maxwell comes with it´s own textures which i heard are pretty good. You have some normal problem with that black line at the entry. I like the lighting, maxwell seems to do a nice job woth exterior scenes.
Devin Johnston
First I would lower the camera to a height of about 6', this is where most people view architecture from and it makes your scene more believable. You have a lot of tiling going on in your concrete and grass; I would try and fix this. You mentioned the sky but you should try and find one that is a closer match to your rendering, I would just use the Maxwell sky. The stucco on your building doesn’t seem to have any texture, if it does it's being masked by the noise so I'd try to make it more random or bigger so you see something. Bubbaloo
Great bushes! How did you make them/what software? I agree with Maxers comments above.
kjverine
Glad you like the bushes. Those bushes are from the evermotion vol.31. They are actually straight bushes but i applied a bend modifier to them to make them follow the path of the road and the grass. Be careful when doing this because the bushes have a box inside of them. That box uses a map that makes the bushes seem more dense. So your going to have to bend that as well but its not that hard to do.
ivox3
Ben ..... don't try to get it all at once. I'd start with a skydome(bring in proper enviornment later), ..work on the house textures exclusively( if you use straight diffuse surfaces like that, ..it's going to look CG perfect, ..like it does). You really need to work on texturing, ..eg, ..just tiling the pavement is never a good solution, ..adjust the map for irregularity and proper specularity (many threads available for help via search) After you nail the textures, ...move on to other parts of the scene --but just one thing at a time( it's worth the extra time laboring over the individual areas) As far as that sky is concerned, .. I don't know what's going on with it, .. is it just a background jpg? crazy tiling going on...?? Find a proper HDR (non - jpeg turned mxi) and then make some final tweaks.. Despite the advertisements for 'quick setup' in Maxwell, ....all untrue, ... any good render has a ton of setup time. (I think that sentiment was pretty much meant for making cube renders and the application of materials and lights, ......but says absolutely nothing of texture, UV map creation etc...!) So, ..if it's going too fast, .. then something is gonna probably look bad. lol...... ...good luck. As far as real help w/texturing ..... it's just to large of a subject to address in one post. I'd say just start googling, ... I would read tutorials on any type of texturing(characters, creatures, organics etc..) It's all applicable, ..in fact, ..it's best, ..because these guys are ultra concerned with tiling, stretching etc.. and avoiding such issues, ...so their methods make for excellent use in arch vis. I think that many arch vis. people skip this type of CG info, ..because of the apparent difference in subject mattter, .....it's a mistake. Much to be learned here even if you never make a single one-eyed minotaur. lol......
