innerdream
Dark wall. Cheetah 3d model and render about 6000 seconds 640x480 size.
Horhe
Dont know anthing else about Cheetah 3d apart from the fact thats its pretty cheap (100 bucks or so) About the images: 1) Lighting is flat - NPR. Depends of course on what you wanted to achieve and on the lighting solution inside cheetah. 2) Floor to reflective 3) Modeling - did you model the furniture? Looks ok Dont know if you were looking for those sort of critcs. Cheers
innerdream
Thanks Horhe. The lighting solutions in Cheetah are not the best but they're okay, I did not model the furniture. Any suggestions on how to improve the lighting?
Horhe
Heres a forum i found about Cheetah 3d - read through, maybe youll find something of interest. http://www.3dallusions.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1713 What you should do to improve the lighting is... find some tutorials that you can follow on lighting solution in cheetah. The materials in you scene need cranking up to. The lighting is program and interface based so i cant really tell where you need to tick to get a fancy output, but it seems to me that your not using Gi - you need to get into the more advanced lighting technique in the program - and i know its there cause i saw some nice galleries with lovely work. Did you work before on other 3d software and have you fooled around with other lighting third party plugins or solutions?
innerdream
Thanks for the link I'll check it out. I know only a little from the 30 trials of Max and C4D. I am using "Radiosity" in Cheetah. I have one distant light pointing straight down, the three wall down light's and a "emissive" plane which is behind the camera giving the front lighting - it acts as a big bounce light. What do you mean by cranking up the materials?
Horhe
What do you mean by cranking up the materials? In order to get a nice realistic render you need good lighting as well as good materials consisting of: specular, glossy, reflections, bumps etc... Like i said your floor is to reflective - has attributes of a mirror. You need to play with the settings. But first decide what sort of floor is it, find reference photos and try to make them on your machine. What made you settle for Cheetah 3d? Was it the price? innerdream
Yes the price...I'm broke. I'll probably end up with C4D. The reason the floor is glossy is to add interest to the scene, you see that all the time in commercial photographs. I think the "distant" light which is Cheetahs version of the Sun is making the image flat. There are bump maps and textures and to me they look in scale for the most part but I'll mess with them some more.
innerdream
Here is the image I was using to model my scene after.
innerdream
Here is another pass with Area lights in place of the distant light. I need to make it brighter I think...
innerdream
Okay, this uses all area lights and spots, plus the reflective/emissive wall. I'll do a higher quality render pass tonight.
