Coreyhrpr
Question to all you vizers out there. Does anyone know of a MAXscript that is similar to the AutoCAD border command? In Viz I want to be able to select inside a 2D shape and have it automatcially draw lines bordering the shape so i can easily extrude it. Thanks.. Coreyhrpr
I usually model in AutoCAD and Render in Lightscape - doing commercial interior renderings. My company purchased Viz 4 and I thought I would try it out to see if modeling would be faster in Viz then in AutoCAD. Either method I still have to trace around the walls in the CAD file to be able to extrude, but in AutoCAD I can use the border command and that will outline the wall, making it a closed polyline so I can extrude it. The plans the designers give me don't seem to work well with the VIZ snaps :| So I figured if someone knew of a script that could border shapes making them extrudeable, that would cut down on some snap issues and make tracing walls and what not a breeze.... I'm always trying to find better and faster ways to cut down modeling and rendering times since most of these projects are time sensitive with quick turnarounds - as is all 3D projects these days. If anyone else has ideas I’d love to hear them Thanks….
quizzy
Why not import the closed plines from autocad into viz? Thats the way I do it...

nisus
Why would you need a script for that? Collapse your spline to an editable spline (or add an edit spline modifier), go to sub-object mode 3 (=spline), select your spline and next OUTLINE. That's it rgds nisus
