Geoffc
I have a dual-dual xeon workstation, so 4 buckets. When I've attempted DR in the past with my dual core laptop, I have to use the maxscript "....buckets=4". This allows my workstation to have it's 4 buckets, but seems to force 4 buckets from the laptop too (I see 8 crawling around). Anyway, I'm going to build a dedicated render node(s). If I just opt for the core2 Quad, I can use the buckets=4 script and all will be well. But, if I can afford a dual Xeon quad node, I'm guessing I would have to use the buckets=8 script, and I'm wondering if this would force my main workstation to have 8 buckets itself (even though only 4 processors). OR, will I be able to be able to just use the buckets=4 script for my workstation, and the DR will automatically find the 8 from the node? Does anyone have any experience with this? Mechadus
Wow... Ive never had a problem like that before... I have a dual-dual core Opteron workstation and several single-chip Dual-core nodes, and whenever I use DR it always just naturally uses as many buckets as I have processing cores... Maybe an intel problem? -Nick Kropat Sr 3D Artist http://www.3dwebmedia.com

Geoffc
doh, I just found this thread: http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/23426-buckets-baby.html Seems Im not the only one having trouble when mixing boxes with different amounts of processors each.
