Ky Lane
Hey guys, Been having some odd things happen lately, and some common probs I thought Id ask about. Firstly, rendering at huge sizes - I generally cant render anything over 1750 pixels wide without it just crashing. And lately, with a normal scene which has rendered fine in the past now closes max with no error or anything. Any hints?
hughie
Check to see if you are running out of hard disk, I had a similar problem last week, managed to delete 5gigs of temp files through disk cleanup. I also cleaned up the geometry: used v-ray proxies for the furniture, removed objects that are not in shot….. it seems to have taken care of it
gfa2
...closes max with no error or anything. I've been having a big time problem with this lately, but I'm running max and I've tried it with and without SP3. It's driving me nuts, I thought maybe it was bad RAM or something. I have a Boxx workstation, so I contacted them and they made sure I was using the correct certified video drivers, gave me a utility to test the RAM etc. etc. But I'm still having the problem with max crashes and the more disturbing times when max will just disappear. No "screw you"...no "see you later"...no "do you want to save your file", nothing. Just gone. I've uninstalled, cleaned up the folders, then reinstall...with no luck. I'm about ready to format my PC and start over.
clauco
I´ve been having same troubles in my computer too. I installed all service packs availables and productivity booster fixer. I had better results with this fixes, but still is crashing when I have medium or high complex scenes with a normal quantity of maps. I guess is not computer problem, in fact I try the same scene in Max 7 and works fine. Anything you know about it, please post.
gfa2
but still is crashing when I have medium or high complex scenes with a normal quantity of maps. My crashes actually don't have anything to do with rendering. Mine are just when working on the model. I even get crashes when I don't have a model open. Just a blank file has crashed before. Now tell me that doesn't sound like a problem with my PC. I've never had these kinds of crashes with my laptop, and it's running the exact same software....same versions, working on the same files. Ky Lane
OK, interesting. Over the weekend I had to log in via remote desktop, so I set the driver to software, and it rendered without issue, and at a VERY high res! So, could it possibly be a DX thing? Im really unsure. Napalm
I had similar problems with high poly scenes. I narrowed it down to Max 9 Direct X video drivers. I solved the problem by going back to the Opengl drivers. This solved it.
