formfinder
hello there everybody, I am using viz4 for quite a while but now I need a little bit of advice, before going totally crazy ... : in the meantime I am also feeling quite "familiar" with all the usual settings of radiosity-rendering (photometric lights, colour exposures, filterings and all that ...) - but there is ONE thing I couldn't "create" until now: these kinds of 'diffuse' shadows under objects that are located above ground. I have attached a picture to make clear which kind of shadows I mean that are NOT there ... http://www.cgarchitect.com/forum/filepush.asp?file=lavazzashowroom.jpg Anyone with a hint - or two ... Thanx very much in advance Regards Steffen
proces2
the indirect shadowing can be accomplished by either setting the global meshing to a pretty small value (for your scene try 8" and see what you get) or you can turn on Regathering (start with setting of around 15 and 10). nisus
Do not regather until you have ages... Smaller meshing might help, but start with high initial steps (20 or so) rgds nisus
Wilson Iwazawa
i have the impression you are using the ambient ligth... is this correct?
proces2
you should have the ambient light turned off in your scene when using radiosity. ambient should be set at 0 (10 at the most). you could always selectively regather. set all your objects to be excluded from regathering (in the properties panel for each object). then select some of the bigger surfaces in the scene (walls, ceiling, floor, objects that intersect the floor) and set them back to use regathering. you can use regathering, just NEVER use the default values for it. they are set WAY, WAY, WAY too high. also, the values are resolution dependent. its hard to get regathering to show up properly in a low res image (640x480). but, in a higher res image (say 1500 or higher), you will see the effects show up. sean
steve
Anyone knows a good setting for regathering ? I am getting a smudgy effect in my final rendering. Anyhow, regathering takes toooo much time. Can we get a nice radiosity effect without regathering ? Thanks
