RyanSpaulding
Is there any info on the DWG link process online? Such as how the UV mapping is done, the bet way to break up the model, ect?
Justin Hunt
What are you modelling in? If ACAD or ADT then just link in , you can get uv to generate automatically or you can do it the old school what,by hand. If you are using Revit it is possible to bring in the revit materials, although this may not be the best option. Two very important things to remeamber is to get your setting correct at the start, before you link. Once a file is linked the setting changes do not apply. Secondly, set the material options as indicated in the attechment. otherwise you will loose material assignments. I personally prefer to break my models up into separate buildings, if I'm doing multiple buildings. Site and landscaping in a separate file. Crazy Homeless Guy
in addition to justins comments... we find it useful to create layers that correspond to materials. brick on one layer, glass on another, etc... and yes, the initial setup is the most important. you can not change the way it is setup later. That's exactly what I do. I have a set of layers in acad specific to material type, and just apply by layer in max to linked file.
