arquichido
Hi Everybody: I Have Some Troubles When I Try To Flip Normals To Geometry (e.g. A Simple Box), Because It Appears Like A "black Box" With Upward Faces. This Happened In Max 9. I Installed The Service Pack 2 But The Trouble Is Still There. Any Help Is Very Welcome.
arquichido
Well, I must say something else: the modifier WORKS when I render, but it doesn't look "flipped" in the viewport! so it's rather difficult to model.
lambros
some graphic card driver problem?
gfa2
Can you give us a screen grab of what you are seeing in your viewport?
BrianKitts
Are you saying you'd rather not see the black faces? In past releases of max when looking at the "back" face it was invisible in the viewport. That was a change they made in 9 to have back faces show as black. You may not like it, but it's not a "bug"... it was intentional, so don't hold your breath for a patch to fix it. Maybe there's an option somewhere to revert back to the old way, but I wouldn't know where to look for it.
gfa2
You may not like it, but it's not a "bug"... it was intentional Ahhh...I'm still on max 8, so I've never seen that. I think I'd actually like that. I should install the upgrade that's been sitting on my shelf for 8 months.
BrianKitts
I like it for plain surfaces.... such as a single plane you can now select it looking at it from the back side real easily..... but I see what antonio is getting at.... with a standard box, it used to be you could see what's inside when you flip your norms..... now you just see black. gfa2
yeah, I guess I could see that too. Would ALT+X help, making the object see-through?
Victor Erthal
you can right click on the object, select object properties and enable "backface cull". that will work in both max 9 and 8.
