Devina
Hi guys, I'm using Maya for my main software at the moment. And just wondering what kind of lighting do you usually use for indoor?? Can I use Mental ray for Indoor? would you care to explain to me what sort of light do u use with mental ray? I have tried to use spotlight with GI but it turn out really bad. I want it to be like bright afternoon sort of lighting. will you explain to me? or any tutorial I can go? Thanks so much, Devina
Justin Hunt
Cant say specifically for Maya, but if your on the latest version then I recomend using the MRphysical sun and sky, if not then place large area lights in the windows. These will act as the sky light and then place spots where needed. Mentalray is quite good at internals, especially if your using MR3.5 JHV
richmondlu
I am a Maya user and don't mind it for interiors. What i do is either use the mia_sun/sky like said above in combination to the area lights with photons. or i use a direct light as the sun and then also put area lights in the windows with photons turned on. remember for the differnet size scene you have to variation in photons is needed. Also maya with the new mia_material you can make the interiors look pretty damn real. Any more questions let me know or i could make a little tut for ya. always willing to help a fellow maya guy out seems how nobody helped me. We are a lonely group here. Here is an quick example:
