problem V-ray 1.5

I have this problem with light in V-ray.

 

Im a noob at v-ray so try to make it simple or step by step to be sure.

I have some experiance with 3Dstudio.

 

No mather what i do i can get the interior to be any lighter, without ading extra lights that is. I did this tutorial for a bit older ver. of v-ray and at one point when the colour of material changes in the ligher ( i do the same ), render: my light stays the same in the room as if i havent changed it.

Any tips how to get my interiors lighter???
